How Photography Connects Us

  How Photography Connects us Ted-Talk

During the Ted-Talk David Griffin mentions how photography connects people and how today's media is taking over with tools such as photoshop and AI art/photography, he tells us that although the struggles older styles of art are facing, photography is surviving and thriving. Photography tells a story and shows people the struggles and opportunities happening around the world and that they are not alone in whatever they are facing. It also spreads many messages that could be tragic or beautiful. Photography helps spread opinions, ideas and many more that help advance the world in much more than just technical advances.

Photography connects many people who would have never met and might still not in the entire span of their life. It can also preserve precious memories that would fade over time and you would need a photo to remember. Photography can spread and share emotions that let people know they aren't alone in their struggles and that they are right in their suffering. Another wonderful thing about photography is how accessible it is. In modern times it is available to a wide variety of people and there is no need to get an expensive fancy camera just to share a beautiful moment.

Although everyone can take a picture there are many professionals who specialize in capturing people and scenes in the most beautiful of truthful light. The main focus of photojournalism is telling a story but more importantly sharing the truth of the world. The amazing thing about photojournalism is that specifically by just looking at the photos, if there are headlines that do not have a narrative, everyone interprets it in a different way and there is no one behind the scenes controlling people's perspective and assumptions based on the photo. The assumptions they make may not be right but it'll be truthful to them and that's what's important.

Pinhole Camera

A pinhole Camera is a camera that has no lens and in its place it has a very small aperture. The inventor of the pinhole camera was alhazen, he invented the pinhole camera in 100 AD. A pinhole camera works by using a very small aperture to focus light. The pinhole camera is also the simplest camera by design and it is fairly simple to use. In order to construct a pinhole camera at the most basic level you need a light proof box, you need to poke a hole in it and you need a sheet of film paper. The first recorded person to use a pinhole camera is Sir David Brewster in 1856.
