A pinhole camera works by using a very small aperture to focus light. The pinhole camera is also the simplest camera by design and it is fairly simple to use. In order to construct a pinhole camera at the most basic level you need a light proof box, you need to poke a hole in it and you need a sheet of film paper. The first recorded person to use a pinhole camera is Sir David Brewster in 1856.
